In a rugby obsessed nation such as South Africa one would think that additional playing (and earning) opportunities would be welcomed with open arms.

Along with greater exposure for the sport the support infrastructure would also stand to benefit – stadiums, tourism, accommodation, officials, media, support staff and the like all need to be found and paid to take part.
